New Home – Structural Changes
• When your new home is being constructed, the structural materials and various components are made to suit the requirements at the period of construction. When a house is completed, it will start to settle.
• Settling may cause structural movement of the house; this movement may affect the cabinets as well as countertop. Examples: Cabinet doors may need to be adjusted; countertops may separate from the wall and may cause the caulking to crack. This is not warrantied; a service fee is applicable to assess and/or make necessary adjustments.

Environmental Factors
• Control the humidity level in your home. High humidity can warp wood, low humidity can cause shrinkage, and cracking. The recommended average residential humidity level is between 35% - 45%. This keeps your home comfortable while protecting your cabinets as well as other belongings and household structures.
• Sunlight exposure on cabinets may cause discolouration, UV rays can also deepen the colour of your cabinets. To avoid this, minimize exposure by closing windows.

B. Woods & Finishes
Natural wood varies in colour; characteristics will exhibit subtle changes as it ages. Cabinet colours may lighten or darken over time. Exposure to direct sunlight, smoke, and other environmental conditions may also affect the colour over time. These colour variations are considered to be the nature of the material in relation to their environmental exposure and are not covered under this warranty.
• Wood products have a 1-year warranty.
• Natural wood products will experience expansion and contraction with humidity changes and therefore a certain amount of movement in solid wood panels will occur and is not cause for concern or covered by warranty (e.g. centre panels in 5 piece doors)
• All woods have natural variations, so your cabinets may contain visual features not shown in your sample. With handcrafted finishes such as dusting or glazing, the surface texture will reflect the technique of the craftsman.
• This is not unique to Cabinet Expressions Ltd. – any cabinet maker that uses natural woods will show these natural variations in their finished products, and it is a standard of the industry.
• 1 Year Warranty on 1 piece painted MDF doors
• No Warranty on painted 5-piece wood doors.
• Note that should a replacement be warranted, due to aging - the new replacement piece may not be a perfect match
• Once a chip has occurred, the bond between paint and surface is compromised and can sometimes flake away easily unless repaired, this is not a manufacturing flaw, it is a reality of the product.

Considerations with Natural Wood
Natural Variations
Natural Wood selections are sourced from living trees, each with its own unique growth patterns, knots, and grain variations. These natural traits contribute to the beauty and character of the wood but can sometimes be perceived as imperfections by those seeking uniformity in their cabinetry.
Grain Irregularities
For example, the characteristic straight, linear grain of Rift White Oak is highly sought after for its modern and refined aesthetic. However, this grain pattern may occasionally include irregularities such as swirls, waves, or subtle deviations from perfect straightness. While these variations are part of the wood's natural charm, they may not always align with precise design expectations.
Color Variation
Natural wood exhibits a range of hues, from pale cream to light brown, with occasional hints of colour. These color variations are influenced by factors such as the tree's age, growing conditions, and the specific part of the tree from which the wood is harvested. While these color nuances contribute to the wood's visual interest, they can sometimes lead to perceived inconsistencies in cabinetry appearance.
Minor Blemishes
Due to its natural origin, Rift White Oak for example, may contain minor blemishes such as small knots, mineral streaks, or pinholes. While these imperfections are typically minor and add to the wood's organic beauty, they may not always align with the desire for flawlessness in cabinetry.
Seasonal Changes
All wood species can react to fluctuations in humidity and temperature by expanding or contracting. Seasonal changes in the environment may cause subtle shifts in the wood's appearance over time, including slight warping or checking. These changes are normal and do not compromise the structural integrity of the cabinetry.

C. Laminate Countertops
Any imperfection that falls within the acceptable limits as established by the laminate manufacturer will not be considered defective.
If a defect in materials or workmanship is identified, under normal use, and within the warranty period, Cabinet Expressions Ltd. at its discretion and upon inspection by an authorized representative, will repair or replace the defective component and those other components integrally associated with it.

E. Care & Tips
Laminate
• Be careful when moving heavy items, dragging or dropping items can cause damage to your laminate countertop. Use cutting boards; do not cut directly on laminate countertops.
• Clean countertops with mild soap and water and then wipe down with a dry cloth. Repeat on tougher stains. Do not use abrasives for cleaning laminate.
• Always place a surface saver of some type under hot pots, pans, toaster ovens, etc. to prevent glue de-lamination (bubbling).
• Seams and finished ends are most susceptible to water damage as liquids can enter in these areas which cause the laminate to separate. Wipe any liquids up immediately.
Wood
• No cleaning products (other than a cloth dampened by water only) should be used for the first six months, as this allows the lacquer to cure and age sufficiently. After this, a mild solution or dish detergent in water applied with a soft cloth and then wiped dry, will be all that is necessary to keep your wooden doors looking fresh and new for years.
• Do not use abrasives on wood products. Use of furniture oils and waxes is not required or recommended as they often cause a build-up and/or attract dust.
Solid Surface
• Refer to the care & use brochure supplied by the manufacturer (given to you at the time of the sale or delivery of your product). If you did not receive one, please request one.

Keeping Your Cabinets Clean
Keeping cabinets clean is important to maintain their finish. Here are instructions on how to properly clean your wood and laminate cabinets.
• To clean cabinet doors, wipe your cabinets down with a damp cloth or towel. Use a lint-free cotton cloth to dry the doors immediately.
• Pay special attention to areas around the sink and dishwasher.
• For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent with warm water in conjunction with a clean, soft cloth. Always dry the surface immediately to avoid water marks.
• Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or powdered cleansers.
• Do not allow oven cleaner to touch any part of the cabinetry.
• When cleaning glass doors with inserts, use a soft cloth and glass cleaner. Do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass door as oven cleaner may damage the finish. Spray cleaner onto a cloth and then wipe the glass clean. If the cleaner comes in contact with the finish on the door frame, wipe it off with a clean cloth and dry immediately.

Tips & Recommendations
• Do not use a dish cloth to wipe the cabinet exterior as it may contain remnants of grease of detergents.
• It is important to wipe up spills and water marks as they occur.
• Avoid draping damp or wet dish towels over the doors.
• It is recommended that with any cleaning that you only complete a small area at a time so that any moisture from the damp cloth will not sit on the cabinets for an extended period of time.
• Always use handles when opening and closing cabinet doors. Skin oil can damage the finish.
• Do not use a cleanser that is formulated with wax, petroleum solvents or silicone. The extended use of wax polishes can result in a film build-up, while the use of silicone polishes can harm the cabinet finish.
• Grease, crayon, lipstick or oil should be rubbed off with a damp cloth. then use mild dish soap with warm water in conjunction with a clean, soft cloth and then dry immediately.
• When using kettles, coffee makers, steamers or crock pots, pull appliances out from under the upper cabinets and set at front of counter-top to let steam vacate the area. Steam can cause damage to the cabinetry.
• Proper ventilation above the stove is important; be sure to purchase a hood vent that is adequate for your stove top. Heat can warp wood, discolour finishes, delaminate edges, peel finishes, split joints, and in some cases leave burn marks or even start a fire.
• Stoves with a self-cleaning feature have the possibility, with the heat generated through the sides, to cause damage to laminate countertops causing finished ends to peel.
